If you have a FAA Pilot License issued
on the basis of your Foreign Pilot License:
You will also have a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the FAA
which has an expiration date on it. If your LOA is expired, you cannot take a checkride. Your foreign license must also be current, which means that you have complied with any applicable currency requirements applicable to the originating/issuing country.
Prior to your checkride, I am required to verify the status of your LOA. If you LOA is attached to your IACRA profile and it's current, then you're good to go!
If your LOA is not in IACRA, then you must notify me at least 3 business days before your checkride that you have a foreign-based license, so that I can verify the status of your LOA and we can avoid any delays or cancellations on checkride day.
If your LOA is expired or is going to expire soon, I would recommend that you contact the FAA to get a new LOA as soon as possible, since this process can take a few weeks or more.
FAR 61.75 has some helpful information on this topic, and you can also contact your local FSDO if you need any more help or guidance.
