Paper applications
​
Please use IACRA for your checkride application.
There is a $25 fee for each checkride application processed using a paper 8710-1 form.
Cancellation Policy
​
Some factors are beyond our control, so there is no charge for a weather cancellation / postponement as long as you are in communication with me. If we discontinue a checkride due to weather or mechanical problems, I do not issue partial refunds on the checkride. But, I will work with you to reschedule the completion of the checkride at no additional charge.
In the event that an applicant must discontinue the checkride due to illness or any reason other than weather or mechanical, I do reserve the right to charge a Re-Test fee (as described above) for the completion of that checkride.

There is a 2-business day cancellation policy for all non-weather-related cancellations.
​
For checkrides within the Portland-Metro area, cancellations within 2-business days of the scheduled start-time may be charged a cancellation fee of $400 ($600 for CFI Initial checkrides).
​
For checkrides involving travel outside of the Portland-Metro area, cancellations within 2-business days of the start of that trip may be charged a cancellation fee equal to the travel expenses plus 50% of the Checkride Rate.
If we are forced to cancel your checkride due to paperwork issues, missing endorsements, or missing qualifications, the cancellation fee described above may be assessed. ​
Payment Policy
​
Full payment must be made at the start of each checkride. I do not issue refunds or reimbursements.

Acceptable forms of payment are: Cash, Cashier's Check (issued by your U.S.-based bank), or Company Check issued by your Flight School payable to Bartel Aviation, Inc. Unfortunately, I do not accept personal checks, credit cards, or debit cards at this time.
*Travel Expenses

For checkrides conducted outside of the Portland-Metro area, the applicant (or their flight school) is responsible for paying travel expenses. Travel arrangements can vary depending on location and duration of the trip, but normally include: airfare or mileage (at the current IRS rate of $0.70/mile), rental car and/or hotel costs.
If your checkride had a travel fee associated with it (checkrides outside of the Portland-Metro area) the travel fees still apply if we cancel for any reason.
